Here’s my recipe for Basic Brownies. Fix them up or dress them down however you want. Like walnuts? Add them. Think chocolate and peanut butter are good together? Throw in some peanut butter chips. Want more chocolate? Chop up a chocolate bar or throw in some chocolate chips. Whatever. Do what you want, folkens.
Jessicas Basic Brownies
(makes about 9ish brownies or maybe 6 if you’re greedy)
Preheat Oven to 350
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon strong coffee or espresso (somewhat optional- coffee really brings out the flavor of chocolate, I always add it to chocolate dishes- however, if you dont have any coffee you can leave it out)
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
In a medium bowl blend together oil, sugar, eggs, vanilla and coffee. In another bowl, mix together the dry ingredients. Stir the dy ingredients into the wet ones until just mixed. Pour mixture into a buttered and floured 9×9 square baking pan. Bake for about 20 minutes, they’re done when the sides start pulling away from the pan- though if you want your brownies a bit softer and gooey in the middle, bake for a minute or so less. You *should* cool completely before you cut them, but I generally cant wait. :P
**side note: You could very easily mix the dry ingredients together and put them in plastic bags to be quickly and easily mixed together at a later time. Just write on the bag the amounts of the wet ingredients and the temperatutre it gets cooked at. That way when you’re REALLY craving chocolate its just a matter mixing the two together with almost no measuring.
